DICKINSON STATE UNIVERSITY (DSU) is a regional comprehensive institution within the North Dakota University System, whose primary role is to contribute to intellectual, social, economic, and cultural development, especially to Southwestern North Dakota. The University's mission is to provide high quality, accessible programs; to promote excellence in teaching and learning; to support scholarly and creative activities; and to provide service relevant to the economy, health, and quality of life for the citizens of the State of North Dakota.

DSU is seeking to hire a faculty member to teach in the athletic training program.

The faculty member will be required to teach a variety of courses in athletic training and/or other courses required by the program. This position also requires willingness to teach online and/or hybrid courses, in addition to traditional face-to-face teaching modality. The faculty member will work collaboratively in a School that serves a number of majors and minors and serves as an integral part of the general education curriculum for all programs on campus.

Additional responsibilities include quality academic advising service to students, participation in departmental and University committees, and service to the campus and larger community.

This is a face-to-face instructional position on the Dickinson State University Campus in Dickinson, ND.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Master's degree or higher in Athletic Training or closely related field

* Current ATC through BOC

* Current NPI number

* BLS or equivalent certification

* Current state athletic training license, in good standing

* Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an athletic trainer, including 5 years in clinical settings

* Demonstrated scholarship

* Previous full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities

* Knowledge of CAATE standards and regulations related to clinical education and academic instruction

* Contemporary expertise and knowledge in the field of athletic training, including emerging trends and best practices

* Good organizational skills, flexibility, and a strong work ethic

* Excellent interpersonal/oral/written communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Doctoral degree in related field (practical and theoretical) or closely related field

* Experience with assessment at course, program, and university levels

* Evidence of ongoing research and scholarly publication

* Experience in clinical education or supervision

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

* Provide instruction in the various athletic training courses offered by DSU, as well as other relevant courses as needed.

* Teaching effectiveness includes
1) teach assigned class loads in courses matching the faculty member's areas of expertise;
2) make appropriate preparations for the semester including syllabus preparation, preparation of lecture and/or studio materials, preparation of tests and assignments as needed/appropriate, revise course materials when needed, and provide measurable objectives for student performance;
3) act as a professional role model to students;
4) communicate effectively with students;
5) arrive at class punctually and use class time effectively;
6) stay current in field of expertise;
7) be available to and provide assistance to students; and
8) perform other teaching duties as assigned or noted by supervisor.

* Physical demands include the ability to stand or otherwise be present in a classroom during class time, the ability to move to students to provide assistance in the class, and the abilities to speak and listen.

* The individual in this position is expected to participate in scholarly activities and self-improvement.

* These activities may include, but are not limited to,
1) evaluation and selection of materials for classroom activities,
2) professional reading and/or research for self-improvement and effectiveness;
3) continuing education, including experiential learning;
4) professional exhibition of creative work and/or publishing in the outlets of professional organizations;
5) conference, workshop, convention and seminar attendance;
