Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night-shift ICU position requiring a compact or ND license and multiple advanced certifications.
Responsibilities- Position is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within an acute care setting
- Unit has 4 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2-3 depending on acuity
- Care for patients with diagnoses such as DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac issues, and medical detox
- Responsibilities include titrating ICU drips and interpreting telemetry strips
- Work schedule is 12-hour night shifts (7 PM - 7 AM) with weekend and holiday shifts as needed
- Travelers are the first to float to the medical-surgical unit or ER for 1:1 assignments
- Uses the MEDITECH EMR system
- No patient care techs or nurse aids on the unit; ICU is supervised by the ER charge nurse
- Unit orientation consists of three 12-hour shifts
- Responsibilities include titrating drips, reading EKG strips, and providing care from nasal cannula to ventilator support
- Navy scrubs are required
- Must meet a 50-mile radius rule from facility and may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with Common Spirit, including CHI or Dignity
- Up to 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week contract and must be requested up front; additional time off will not be approved
- Team values include coachability, motivation, teamwork, and safety awareness
- Active ND or compact RN license required at the time of consideration (pending licenses not accepted)
- Minimum of 1 year recent ICU RN experience required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, and either TNCC, TCAR, or trauma patient care experience
- Must provide 2 references: one supervisor from within the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the past 3 years
- Must provide a copy of driver's license
- Must be able to pass respiratory fit testing; facial hair that interferes with fit is not permitted
