About the Role

Our client is a multidisciplinary civil engineering firm supporting public and private infrastructure projects across municipal, water, and transportation sectors. They are seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join their growing team and contribute to projects from initial planning through final design and construction. This role offers the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively while supporting complex infrastructure projects that directly impact communities.

Job Description

The Civil Design Engineer will serve as a key member of project teams, supporting civil engineering projects through planning, design, and construction phases. This role works closely with Project Managers and Senior Engineers and may also serve as a resident project representative during construction.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Providing professional civil engineering services including planning, design, specifications, reports, construction observation, and project management
  • Developing project plans, specifications, and technical documents in coordination with multidisciplinary teams
  • Communicating project progress and updates regularly with project managers and supervisors
  • Attending internal, project, and client meetings as required
  • Supporting proposal development and participating in interviews, with increasing involvement in business development over time
  • Serving as the owner’s on-site representative during construction, as needed
  • Directing and coordinating work with engineering technicians and other team members
  • Following company CADD standards, safety policies, and internal procedures
  • Exercising sound judgment, attention to detail, and ethical decision making
  • Participating in professional organizations and community leadership activities
  • Traveling and working extended hours as required, particularly during the construction season
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
  • Five or more years of experience working as a civil or environmental engineer
  • Ability to obtain Professional Engineer licensure within six to twelve months, if not already licensed
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one
  • Willingness to travel, work outdoors during construction season, and work overtime as required
Preferred
  • Active Professional Engineer license
  • Proficiency with civil design and CADD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Open Roads Designer, Micro Station, Sketch Up Pro, or GIS platforms
  • Experience with stormwater systems, pump station design, equipment selection, cost estimates, and design calculations
  • Experience designing municipal or urban infrastructure projects with underground utilities
  • Experience serving as a resident project representative during construction
