Senior Accountant – Construction / Project Accounting

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to support daily accounting operations for our growing construction business. This role is ideal for a strong accounting professional who thrives in execution, enjoys building better processes, and wants to be a key contributor in a turnaround and growth environment.

This position reports to the Controller and plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong job cost tracking, and payroll and compliance support.

• Support the month-end and year-end close process including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis
• Maintain daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
• Prepare job cost reports and support project accounting for operations and project management teams
• Assist with payroll processing, review, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Prepare financial statements and management reports for Controller review
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Support audits, tax filings, and external reporting requests
• Identify process improvement opportunities and assist with system enhancements
• Perform special projects assigned in support of business growth and operational improvement

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (required)
• 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience
• Construction, job cost, or project-based accounting experience strongly preferred
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and payroll fundamentals
• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting / ERP systems
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
• CPA or CPA-track a plus
