Consultant in Adult Psychiatry - Devizes

Job Title:Consultant in Adult Psychiatry
Grade:Consultant
Location:Devizes, Wiltshire
Working Hours:40 hours per week

We are seeking a highly experienced and committed Consultant in Adult Psychiatry to join our NHS client in Devizes, Wiltshire. This full-time role involves providing expert psychiatric care to adults with complex mental health needs, with responsibilities under the Mental Health Act as a Section 12 Approved Clinician.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and psychiatric care for adults with a range of mental health conditions.
  • Act as an Approved Clinician and hold Section 12 approval
    , undertaking responsibilities related to detention, treatment, and discharge planning under the Mental Health Act.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, psychology, social care, and primary care professionals.
  • Supervise and support junior medical staff and trainees.
  • Participate in service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engage with families, carers, and external agencies to ensure holistic, person-centred care.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT)
  • MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
  • Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Extensive experience in adult psychiatry and multidisciplinary team working
  • Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
