Reports to: GP Partners (Clinical / Professional) + Practice Manager (Operational / HR)

Contract type / Hours

- Full Time / Part Time available. 4 8 sessions weekly.

- Core hours typically 08:00 18:30 Monday to Friday (extended hours participation by agreement)

Salary: £11,000 £ 13,000 (dependent on experience) per session per annum.

Job Purpose

To provide high-quality, safe and effective general medical services to the practice population, working as part of a multidisciplinary team. The post-holder will contribute to the delivery of primary medical services, clinical governance, and service development. There is a clear intention to support the successful candidate towards a future partnership opportunity, subject to mutual agreement, business need and performance.

The Lansdowne Surgery is a small, friendly and high performing rural practice serving a list of 6,600 patients in the heart of Wiltshire.

Despite our size, we are a busy and forward thinking organisation with an active role in our successful Primary Care Network. Our team contributes to a wide range of shared initiatives, including the Leg Club, Older Persons Team, Physician Associate Programme and First Contact Physiotherapy service. We also deliver all same-day care through a PCN managed, purpose built Urgent Care Centre, widely regarded as the flagship model for urgent primary care in the region.

We are a dynamic, multidisciplinary team who communicate well, support one another and adapt quickly to change. Our clinical workforce includes 4 GPs, 1 ACP, 4 RGNs, 1 Pharmacist, 3 HCAs/Phlebotomists and 2 Physician Associates employed through the PCN AARS scheme following extensive training, mentoring and support through our PCN training program, praised as gold standard by the RCN.

Job responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1) Clinical responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary medical care to registered patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing and referral as appropriate.
  • Undertake a mix of face-to-face, telephone and online consultations in line with the agreed job plan.
  • Provide home visits when clinically appropriate and in line with our duty/visiting model. Same‑day home visits are carried out by our urgent care team at the care centre, using our registrars and physician assistants (PA). Routine home visits are also managed by our PA team. GP home visits, while never completely avoidable, are rare. Applicants can expect around 34 visits per year, although there is no formal upper limit.
  • Manage acute presentations and contribute to same‑day demand management according to practice and Urgent Treatment Centre (UCT) protocols.
  • Provide ongoing care for patients with long‑term conditions, including medication reviews and evidence‑based management.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records and correspondence in line with NHS and GMC requirements.
