Job Summary and Responsibilities

CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake is actively recruiting an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our well-established hospital in Devils Lake, ND. We serve residents from our community and surrounding areas, providing 24/7/365 emergency care, hospitalization, testing, surgery, outpatient primary care, rehabilitation, and more. This position supports our busy ER-Hospitalist program.

Essential Areas of Responsibility
  • Provide care to patients of all ages – children to geriatrics.
  • Emergency Room consults, triage, and medical care.
  • Round, admit, and manage health needs of patients with a significant range of complex and comorbid disease conditions.
  • Manage all inpatient care and provide prompt attention to admitted patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and medical procedures within scope of practice.
  • Collaborate and coordinate patient care with physicians, nursing, health care personnel, and care team members for patients in the hospital and ER.
  • Employ quality and process improvement practices to make the hospital safer and improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and treat medical conditions; develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to foster a collaborative approach.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with coding and billing regulations.
  • Work with healthcare professionals and participate in interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Engage in quality assurance initiatives and analyze clinical outcomes for improvement.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and stay informed about healthcare regulations.
  • Stay updated on medical advancements and participate in ongoing education and training.
Job Requirements
  • Graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant master's or doctoral program.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Room or Inpatient experience.
  • Board certified as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Hospital Medicine.
  • Certified in ACLS, PALS, and ATLS or CALS.
  • Qualified to obtain an unrestricted North Dakota practice license and DEA.
  • Interested in a shift-based condensed work schedule.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Adaptable to changing patient demographics and needs.
