Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent ER RN experience
- Must be comfortable with triage (no separate triage area)
- Ability to mix medications independently
- Strong skills assisting with respiratory meds, equipment, and intubation
- Prior travel experience preferred (not required if strong candidate)
Required (AHA):
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- NIHSS
Preferred:
- TNCC
- NRP
- Nurse:
Patient Ratios:- 1:4 stable patients
- 1:1–1:2 critically ill (acuity-based staffing)
- Providers:
- 1 MD or NP/PA onsite 24/7
- Second provider on duty 11a–11p daily
- Charge/Coordinator: Available to assist with traumas and critical patients
- Support Staff:
- Tech onsite 11a–11p
- Float CNA 11p–11a
- RT onsite 6a–6p, on-call 24/7
- RNs assist with respiratory care and intubation
- Equipment includes:
BiPAP, Vent, Glidescope, Heated High Flow, Bubble CPAP - RNs required to read and interpret cardiac strips
- Acute illness and severe injuries
- Chest pain/ACS, respiratory distress (asthma/COPD)
- Neuro: stroke, seizure, TBI
- Trauma: stabbings, shootings, fractures, burns, domestic injuries
- Psychiatric emergencies, SI, intoxication/polysubstance use
- Infectious diseases and allergic reactions
Common Drips:
Insulin, Heparin, Levophed, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Propofol
- Floating based on staffing needs and skill set
- May float to Med-Surg for assistance with procedures/codes
- May act as support staff for behavioral patients (1:1)
- No call requirement; OT opportunities may be available
- Weekend Requirement: 2 out of 6 weekends
- Orientation: Minimum 2 shifts
- Scrubs: Any color
