Schedule:
Day shift 6:00AM-4:00PM, weekends on call, and able to work holidays.
- We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Truck Mechanic to join our maintenance team at the railyard. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and electrical systems on a fleet of semi-trucks, trailers, and hostler vehicles.
- Perform regular maintenance to keep equipment in top working condition, respond to breakdowns, and ensure safety standards are met at all times.
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines (Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit) to maintain optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems using schematics, ensuring wiring and components function correctly.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tractors, trailers, and hostler trucks to minimize downtime.
- Conduct full vehicle assessments and execute timely repairs on scheduled and unscheduled service calls.
- Maintain detailed service records of work completed, parts replaced, and maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with safety and company standards.
- Monitor and adhere to routine maintenance schedules, ensuring all equipment receives necessary attention on time.
- Communicate findings and repair needs effectively with the maintenance supervisor and team to prioritize and allocate resources.
- 1โ3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, with experience on semi-trucks, trailers, or hostler vehicles.
- Proficiency in diagnostic tools and mechanical repairs, including diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Ability to work with schematics and troubleshoot electrical issues.
- Familiarity with maintenance scheduling systems and keeping accurate service records.
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills. Experience with hostlers and forklifts is a plus. Experience with electric trucks is a plus.
- Knowledge of all diesel engine systems, including fuel, electrical, cooling, and exhaust.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions. Must own necessary tools for the job. Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.

- Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening
- The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. Use of cannabis is strictly prohibited. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen.
