The Michigan State Lottery was established under the authority of Public Act 239 of 1972 to generate funds to support Michigan’s public school system. It generates revenue through the sale of lottery tickets at retail locations and online, and the profits supplement state education programs.

The Experienced Level Lottery District Sales Representative is the primary field representative assigned to a specific geographical area of the state. The advanced level position focuses on promoting lottery sales through direct contact with retailers in a defined route, analyzing sales performance, and identifying new retail opportunities to maximize revenue for the State School Aid Fund (SAF).

• Conduct sales calls and presentations to assigned retailers as directed by the Deputy Commissioner of Sales, Zone Manager(s), or Regional Manager.
• Promote lottery sales through direct contact with retailers and accounts to maximize state revenue for the SAF.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with accounts, owners, managers, and staff at retail locations.
• Inform retailers of current and upcoming lottery programs, promotions, events, best practices, and market trends.
• Analyze sales data to determine product lines that will generate the highest volume of sales and place appropriate orders to meet projections.
• Identify new retail opportunities in targeted areas based on gap analysis and establish relationships within businesses.
• Participate in the marketing strategic planning committee, presenting data and feedback to develop new products and promotions.
• Present new product lines and promotions at regional meetings and provide details on benefits to the retailer.

• Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
• Valid Michigan driver's license.
• Professional consumer product sales or management experience in retail operations or a Class C licensed establishment (restaurant/bar); the required years of experience vary by level:
• Level 10 – Minimum 1 year of experience.
• Level P11 – Minimum 2 years of experience.
• Level 12 – Minimum 3 years of experience.
• Additional experience may substitute for education requirements as follows:
• Five years of experience may substitute for the education requirement at Level 10.
• Six years of experience may substitute for the education requirement at Level P11.
• Seven years of experience may substitute for the education requirement at Level 12.
