Job Overview

Our clients is looking foran experienced and driven Senior Outside Sales Representative to join their team to grow their Expedited service line. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of identifying, developing, and closing business opportunities focused on Expedited services. As a Senior Outside Sales Representative, you will be responsible for generating new business, managing key client relationships, and contributing to revenue growth through strategic sales efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Development
    • Identify and pursue new Expedited sales opportunities through cold calling, networking, and industry events.
    • Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified prospects across various sectors, including automotive, pharma, aerospace, manufacturing, distribution, and more.
    • Build long-term relationships with potential and existing customers to generate recurring business.
  • Sales Strategy
    • Create and implement effective sales strategies to drive revenue growth and meet or exceed expectations.
    • Collaborate with internal teams (operations, pricing, customer service) to develop tailored solutions that meet customer needs.
    • Conduct in-depth needs assessments and present customized transportation and logistics solutions to decision-makers.
  • Relationship Management
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned key accounts, ensuring exceptional service and customer satisfaction at executive level.
    • Regularly meet with clients to review performance, discuss opportunities for growth, and address any service-related issues.
    • Negotiate contracts, rates, and service agreements with customers.
  • Market Knowledge and Research
    • Stay informed about industry trends, competitors, and market dynamics to identify potential opportunities and risks.
    • Provide market intelligence to internal teams to enhance service offerings and stay competitive.
  • Reporting and Forecasting
    • Prepare and present regular sales reports, including revenue forecasts, sales activity, and key metrics.
    • Use CRM systems to track customer interactions, sales activities, and pipeline management.
    • Provide feedback to management on market conditions, service gaps, and customer needs.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with operations and customer service teams to ensure smooth onboarding and implementation of new accounts.
    • Partner with the pricing and finance teams to develop competitive and profitable pricing models.
    • Provide input on marketing initiatives to enhance brand visibility and sales support materials.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Sales, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in outside sales, business development, or account management within the Expedited mode in transportation and logistics industry.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and developing new business in transportation and logistics services (E-LTL, Expedite, Team, Air, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of the transportation and logistics market, including knowledge of freight, brokerage, and supply chain solutions.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a large geographic territory with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the assigned territory to meet with clients and prospects.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to finding new business opportunities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to tailor solutions to customer needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
  • Goal-oriented and self-motivated with a focus on achieving results.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
