Assistant Store Manager

As an Assistant Store Manager at O’Reilly Auto Parts, you will support the Store Manager in driving sales, delivering excellent customer service, and ensuring smooth store operations. You will lead the store team during the Store Manager’s absence and during opposing shifts, providing coaching, training, and operational guidance.

• Lead the store team in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
• Supervise retail showroom customer service levels and execute customer service programs (Related sales, Hi5, Rock the Call, Never Say No, Rock the Lot, etc.).
• Work with the Store Manager to staff the retail sales counter during peak business hours (lunch, late‑afternoons, evenings, weekends).
• Set team member goals, provide feedback on goal achievement, coach/mentor team members, and keep team members current on training.
• Assist with the hiring process: schedule interviews, evaluate candidates, and collaborate to select qualified team members.
• Ensure telephone calls are answered according to company policy.
• Process buy online/ship to store, hub, and store‑to‑store transfers, and DC add orders promptly, contacting customers on shipment arrivals.
• Use electronic outside purchase order ledger to handle special orders and outside purchases efficiently.
• Process retail customer returns and exchanges accurately, issue refunds with correct payment methods, and stage returned merchandise properly.
• Invoice all merchandise, including core charges and warranties, before product leaves the store.
• Communicate Zipline messages and complete Image Maker and merchandising tasks as assigned.
• Enforce compliance with company policies: posted work schedule, approved changes, and correct clock‑in/out.
• Perform all store opening/closing duties, including day‑end procedures, securing money/deposits, preparing bank deposits, ensuring night security lights are on, locking doors, arming/disarming security alarms, and securing delivery vehicles.
• Assist in maintaining the store building, parking lot, exterior signage/lighting, computer hardware, in‑store service/test equipment, and delivery vehicles.
• All other duties as assigned.

Required: Sales Specialist Training, Assistant Manager Certification, and RSS Certification.

Desired: Certified Parts Professional Certification; ASE Certification. Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish highly desired).
