Established in 1954, Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital offers your companion pets a modern, well equipped hospital with comfortable patient quarters and state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facilities. Located on the East side of Harper Avenue between Allard Ave and Eight Mile Rd at 20102 Harper Avenue in Harper Woods, Michigan.
Role HighlightsFull or Part Time Available. Up to a 30K sign on for Full Time. We are a collaborative team with excellent medicine and a long-standing culture.
Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital has been AAHA accredited for over 70 years, is a multi-doctor hospital with a loyal client base and a team that values collaboration. Many staff have 10-20+ years.
We are seeking a full-time veterinarian with a strong interest in surgery.

- Balanced schedule - Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm, with a surgery/lunch block from 12-2pm.
- 10 exam rooms, 2-table OR, 4 wet tables
- Diverse caseload with opportunity for orthopedic and soft tissue surgery
- DVMs currently performing cruciate repairs and expanding into TPLO training
- Acupuncture and therapy laser services
- Digital full-body and dental x-rays, ultrasound (cardio expansion in progress)
- ~20-22 appointments per day; 15-minute standard
- Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
- Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
- Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
- Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
- Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
- Maintain patients' medical records.
- Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures.
- DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
- Appropriate state licensure.
- Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional and courteous presentation with staff and clients.
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; with assistance for over 25 pounds.
