Unit Specializes in:
Our 20‑bed surgical intensive care unit cares for patients with multiple and complex surgical diagnoses, including post‑cardiac catheterization interventions, open heart surgery, and other procedures requiring continuous monitoring or lifesaving interventions. Nurses are trained in caring for patients with balloon pumps and Impella devices, and in utilizing hypothermia protocols for post‑arrest patients. The unit’s orientation is based on the American Association of Critical‑Care Nurses.
- Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians and other health‑care providers.
- Delegates, assesses, provides, and evaluates patient care.
- Provides and delegates patient care activities to team members.
- Monitors patient progress and prepares patients for discharge.
- Reports directly to senior unit management and participates in shared decision‑making activities.
- Graduation from a school of nursing required.
- BSN preferred.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Michigan required.
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required.
