The Nurse Extern II (NE II) is a member of the patient‑care services team with primary responsibilities for technical, multi‑skilled direct and indirect patient care activities. The NE II works under the supervision of a registered nurse who delegates tasks based upon patient needs and the NE II’s skills and abilities. The NE II reports all deviations from expected patient parameters to the registered nurse and assists with providing patient care—including ADLs, vitals, ambulation and other duties within the scope of patient care tech or equivalent.
Responsibilities- Assist the registered nurse with direct and indirect patient care activities.
- Perform technical tasks such as vital sign measurement, ADLs, ambulation, and other duties within scope.
- Report deviations from expected patient parameters to the registered nurse.
- Work under the supervision and guidance of an experienced RN assigned each shift.
- Receive instruction, mentorship, and ongoing feedback from the assigned RN in the clinical area.
- Applicants may begin applying up to six months before graduation from an accredited nursing school and must pass all senior courses to remain in the program.
