The Nurse Extern II (NE II) is a member of the patient care services team with primary responsibilities for technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities.

The NE II will work under the supervision of a registered nurse who delegates tasks based on patient needs and NE II skills and abilities. It will report all deviations from expected patient parameters to the registered nurse. Specific patient care tasks may vary widely in type and frequency from unit to unit or across service lines. The Nurse Extern II will be assigned to an experienced RN each shift and will assist with providing patient care such as ADLs, vitals, ambulation and other duties within the scope of patient care tech or equivalent.

The assigned RN instructs and mentors the Nurse Extern II in the assigned clinical area and provides feedback on an ongoing basis.

• Assist with ADLs, vitals, ambulation and other patient care duties within scope of patient care tech.
• Work under supervision of registered nurse and follow delegated tasks.
• Report deviations from expected patient parameters to RN.
• Receive instruction and ongoing feedback from RN mentor.

• Applicants can apply starting 6 months before graduation from an accredited school of nursing and must pass all senior courses to remain in program.
