Overview
Naph Care is hiring a MAT Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team of medical professionals in Detroit, Michigan, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals who are incarcerated in the Wayne County Jail.
As a Correctional Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) LPN, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is a top priority, you will have various duties including performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive patient assessments to determine eligibility for MAT, including medical history, substance use history, mental health evaluation, and physical examination
- Administer MAT medications as prescribed, ensuring proper dosing, and monitoring for adverse effects and drug interactions
- Educate patients about MAT medications, potential side effects, and the importance of medication adherence, addressing misconceptions and stigma
- Monitor patients in the induction, stabilization, and treatment phases, ensuring adherence to the program
- Maintain medical records, including entering information into the electronic health record (Tech Care)
- Observe patient health and mental health status
- Provide emergency first aid
- Provide patient education and discharge/release planning
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred)
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism and adherence to a Code of Conduct and facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities:
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
