UW Medicine Harborview Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for an ARNP, Nurse Practitioner, or PA-C, Physician Assistant to join the Orthopedic Hand and Peripheral Nerve Clinic.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week) Day shift, Monday – Friday. Sign-on bonus: $10,000 for eligible new employees.

Department Description

Located in the Ninth & Jefferson building across from Harborview Medical Center, the Hand, Elbow & Shoulder Center treats complex injuries and musculoskeletal, peripheral nerve and skin conditions. Our team includes board-certified orthopedic and plastic surgeons, rehabilitation medicine physicians, and physical and occupational therapists who work to return patients to full function.

Primary

Job Responsibilities
  • Function as a member of the Hand and Peripheral Nerve Clinic team within Orthopedic and Plastic surgery, managing patients in a high-volume outpatient clinic; perform pre-operative and postoperative evaluations.
  • Support patient needs after major hand and upper-extremity trauma and reconstructive surgery.
  • Triage upper-extremity injuries to determine the need for surgical or non-operative management.
  • Determine physical and occupational therapy needs, pain evaluation and treatment, readiness for surgery, and early detection of complications (e.g., DVT, infection, implant issues).
  • Function independently as an expert practitioner, consultant, educator, and researcher in upper-extremity trauma, arthritis, and plastics reconstruction.
  • Collaborate with infectious disease, plastics, and pain services.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
  • Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner license with prescriptive privileges; RN license in Washington
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner (and/or NCCPA certification for PA-C)
  • BLS certification
  • Eligibility to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership per Medical Staff By-Laws
