Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant — VAD/Heart Transplant (Full Time | Days) – Detroit

Join Henry Ford Health as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant dedicated to advanced heart failure and ventricular assist device (VAD) patient care. This full‑time day position is located in Detroit and focuses on inpatient and outpatient management of the Advanced Heart Failure (AHF) clinic, VAD readmissions, medication management, device interrogations, and urgent clinic visits.

General Summary

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant serves as a first‑line provider within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include managing the AHF clinic, rounding with the AHF team, consulting for LVAD readmissions, performing clinical assessments, diagnosis, treatments, and patient/staff education. The role requires close collaboration with attending physicians, other providers, and nurses to ensure safe, high‑quality patient outcomes.

Education and Experience Required
  • Master’s degree in Nursing (NP) or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Prior Advanced Practice Provider experience preferred.
  • Experience caring for cardiac patients required.
  • Cardiology experience preferred.
  • Experience with ventricular assist devices (VADs) preferred but not required.
Certifications and Licensure Required
  • Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (NP) or Physician Assistant, as applicable.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as required by the department.
