This full-time Neurology Advanced Practice Provider position at Henry Ford Hospital – Main Campus offers the opportunity to join a highly collaborative, academic-based neurology team delivering comprehensive care to a diverse patient population. The APP will participate in the evaluation and management of patients with a wide range of neurologic and neurosurgical conditions, including conducting detailed histories and examinations, performing and documenting NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) assessments, interpreting neuroimaging, and contributing to diagnostic and treatment planning.
The role utilizes the Epic electronic medical record and is open to both experienced APPs and new graduates with a strong interest in neurology, supported by structured onboarding, mentorship, and ongoing education. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong clinical assessment skills, effective communication, and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment. NP – Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
PA – Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
NP – Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan
PA – Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Licensure and Certification- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)
- National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.
o DEA - NPs do not have controlled substance licenses, only PAs. When NPs apply, they will enter MI license number instead of controlled substance license since they won't have a CSL.
Department would work with provider to get certified after hiring as well.
