Reporting to Nursing leadership at the hospital site, the Manager of Patient Services assumes management responsibility for a major (or multiple smaller) function, service or process that provides business support to Nursing operations. The role may oversee multiple nursing units or a single major support function with less than 50 FTE direct/indirect reports. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and evaluating processes related to performance improvement, staffing effectiveness, fiscal management, staff competence, and customer service outcomes within designated units/services, in collaboration with senior leadership.
Key duties include:
- Ensuring regulatory requirements and standards are communicated, implemented, and monitored.
- Collaborating with the healthcare team to align activities with department, hospital, and DMC objectives.
- Identifying needs for policy development or revision and defining policy in collaboration with higher‑level management.
- Overseeing the development and revision of departmental procedures/protocols; securing approvals and monitoring workflow quality.
- Initiating personnel actions such as hires, terminations, and disciplinary measures as appropriate.
- Conducting performance appraisals and assessing progress toward daily, monthly, and yearly goals.
- Assisting in long‑range goal development, goal attainment assessment, and budget monitoring for assigned areas.
Compliance is supported by adherence to the DMC’s Code of Conduct and implementation of audit recommendations. Activities are monitored to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, JCAHO requirements, and DMC policies and procedures.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required;
Master’s degree preferred. If a Master’s is held, either bachelor’s or master’s must be in Nursing. - Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.
- Three years of progressive nursing experience.
