Role Description

The Greening of Detroit is seeking a temporary Green Corps Crew Leader for an on-site role based in Detroit, MI. The Crew Leader will supervise, mentor, and lead a team of youth members in green infrastructure projects, such as watering trees, community clean-ups, and urban gardening. Responsibilities include coordinating and overseeing daily on-site activities, ensuring safety standards, fostering teamwork among crew members, and maintaining project timelines and goals.

This role requires hands-on participation, leadership, and effective communication to inspire and engage the youth participants.

Qualifications
  • Leadership and mentorship skills to guide, motivate, and support youth team members.
  • Experience in environmental projects, such as tree planting, landscaping, or urban agriculture.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, equipment usage, and project management in outdoor settings.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to manage schedules and deadlines effectively.
  • Physical healthy and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for fostering collaboration within the team and community.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to commute to on-site locations in Detroit, MI.
  • Experience working with youth and a passion for urban sustainability projects is highly desirable.
