Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Foundation Relations, this position is responsible for identifying opportunities and working with internal customers and external partners to develop funding proposals that successfully compete for awards from foundations, organizations, corporations, and entities created around social good. Such proposals will evidence HFHS's capacity to benefit patients, families, and the communities we serve, solve large-scale health care challenges, create models replicable around the country, and secure Henry Ford's standing as an innovative and high-value resource.

The Sr. Grant Coordinator is responsible for the research, identification, product development, writing, tracking, and stewardship of funding proposals in support of HFHS. The person in the position will be relied upon to identify, assess and cultivate opportunities based on HFHS priorities, needs, resources and interest. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work with system staff to shape products and produce strategically-positioned grants that match agency offerings.

The ideal candidate will have a familiarity with methods for awarding funding, as well as the methods used to advertise funding opportunities, and a proven track record for obtaining grant awards.

Responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities and collaborate with internal customers and external partners to develop funding proposals for foundations, organizations, corporations, and other entities dedicated to social good.
  • Research, write, track, and steward funding proposals in support of HFHS.
  • Assess HFHS priorities, needs, resources, and interests to cultivate suitable grant opportunities.
  • Collaborate with system staff to shape proposal products and produce strategically-positioned grants that align with agency offerings.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of Bachelor  degree with emphasis on writing; preferably in journalism, communications, marketing, public administration, public health, political science, or related field;
    Master  Degree preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience in grant writing or grant making for a public or private entity, in journalism or communications, or related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to handle detailed work, question inconsistencies, and build compelling cases for support.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize projects that qualify for philanthropic funding and develop into professionally packaged proposals; self-directed, deadline-driven, team-oriented, with strong client/customer focus.
