Position Summary
The position is responsible for identifying, cultivating and stewarding donation solicitation from individuals, groups and organizations. The candidate strives to match the philanthropic interests of current and prospective donors with IRUSA’s mission and goals. In this role, the individual is engaged in building community relationships and maximizing a community’s donor base to build support for the organization through community event planning, organization and facilitation.
This position is specifically intended for the Ramadan 2023 fundraising campaign and all its related activities.

- Works with Regional Managers to identify and reach out to prospective mosques to request Ramadan fundraising bookings, including confirming dates and times and logging confirmed bookings internally.
- Engages with internal staff and organization volunteers to organize, coordinate and market fundraising activities and events.
- Plans, develops, and partners with other internal staff to ensure IRUSA representation at fundraising activities (including mosques, dinners, community & student events, etc.) to promote and raise funds for various projects.
- Builds community relationships with prospective donors, volunteers, organizations and the general public to increase the outreach, visibility, growth and viability of IRUSA’s mission and goals.
- Cultivates relationships by meeting with community volunteers and leaders, parties interested in IRUSA’s mission, and others and ensuring that they are participants at sponsored events and other engaged activities.
- Schedules and delivers presentations to audiences of various sizes and diverse backgrounds.
- Responds to real and prospective donor inquiries in a timely fashion.
- Assists in planning and coordinating periodic and ad hoc meetings, conferences and/or events.
- Represents IRUSA, as needed, in external and local groups.
- Completes clerical-related tasks, including documentation of fundraising activities and more, as needed.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum two years’ related experience, working either with a grassroots organization, foundation, mission-based organization or similar, and/or direct fundraising.
- Strong ability to communicate (written and orally) persuasively and strategically, and with tact, diplomacy and/or authority as necessary.
- Must possess exceptional public speaking skills.
- Effective written communications skills should include experience in generating reports in either quantitative or narrative formats, and in writing email correspondence and memoranda.
- Must exhibit effective problem solving and analytical skills to understand fundraising metrics and results.
- Must possess the ability to self-manage multiple priorities that are somewhat complex in nature.
- Technical proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Strong collaborative skills and ability to contribute to team environment, as well as work independently.
- Must be able to accommodate a somewhat flexible schedule and be available to travel domestically 75% of the time, with possible, occasional international travel.
- Ability to exhibit cultural competence and sensitivity to work with a wide array of ethnicities.
- Must have own means of transportation.
- Experience in fundraising preferred.
- The anticipated hire date for this position is January 2026 to March 30, 2026. Priority may be given to those with more flexibility in their availability.
