Job Summary
  • Under indirect and intermittent supervision, the Rubber Goods Inspector is responsible for receiving, sorting, storing, testing, inspecting, packing, and staging for shipping and tracking of all protective rubber goods in the company. Complies with Federal and State regulations, or standards regarding: 1. The testing of equipment
    2. Equipment maintenance schedules, and 3. Rubber goods quality.
Key Accountabilities
  • Cleaning, Inspections & Testing:
    Performs cleaning, inspection and electrical testing of rubber goods using the appropriate glove, sleeve and blanket testers. Performs a visual inspection of blankets. Performs a visual inspection of the gloves and sleeves utilizing the appropriate inflation device. Performs cleaning, visual inspections and electrical testing of line hoses when required. Properly destroys and discards defective rubber goods. Stamps an inspection or retest due date on rubber goods passing inspection.

    Salvages or repairs certain items with physical defects, utilizing approved materials and methods as identified in the standards.
  • Shipping, Receiving and Inventory:
    Receives new and used rubber goods at G-95 WSC and performs incoming inspections to ensure the returning items are properly marked, packaged and have no visible shipping damage. Inventories the returned items for correct quantities and communicates deficiencies to supervision. Periodically inventories the stocked rubber goods for appropriate quantities and reports deficiencies to supervision. Inventories, packs and stages for shipment any materials that will be returned to customers or vendors.
  • Administrative:
    Monitor weekly, monthly and annual work loading as well as testing timetables to meet the delivery schedules. Assist customers with special needs to ensure the proper fit of rubber goods. Communicates to any visitors of the Test Lab, the required PPE and safety requirements. Enters all dielectric and visual rubber good failures into database on monthly basis. Record dielectric and visual rubber good failures ck ad-hoc customer requests of insulated rubber goods.

    Communicate with rubber goods vendors as necessary.
  • Equipment and General Maintenance:
    Perform general maintenance, minor repairs or adjustments to the testing equipment when required. Periodically strain filtering and change test medium to maintain dielectric properties. Replace test electrodes. Adjust high voltage and ground contacts. Adjust Micro and limit switches. Change air lines, buttons, switches, fuses test lights corona guards, or barriers as needed. Programs the computerized rubber goods washing and testing equipment.
  • Uses approved products, chemicals and detergents to clean, test and stamp rubber goods. Assists in Training of those entering the Protective Rubber Goods Inspector Classification. Uses the required PPE and follows all corporate safety practices in the performance of the job activities. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must have a High School diploma and or the equivalent.
  • Must have 2 years of insulated rubber goods testing experience
