Chemical Mixer / Batch Operator
Job Description
This role combines responsibilities as a Chemical Mixer and a Bulk Loader. The primary focus will be on the safe and efficient operation of a yard switcher, and the loading of finished goods and raw materials into bulk tank wagons. You will ensure that tankers are weighed correctly on the company scale, verifying that all paperwork corresponds with the assigned tanker and its related materials.
Proper staging of the tanker and inspection of all connections from the storage tank or blend vessel to the tanker before loading materials is crucial. Strong communication skills are essential for reporting any issues or delays to shift supervisors or managers. Additional duties include moving trailers on-site to support production and transporting drum trailers between the dock and the yard.
- Safely and efficiently operate a yard switcher.
- Load finished goods and raw materials into bulk tank wagons.
- Ensure accurate weighing of tankers and verify corresponding paperwork.
- Properly stage tankers and inspect all connections before loading materials.
- Report issues or delays to shift supervisors or managers as needed.
- Move trailers on-site to support production.
- Transport drum trailers between the dock and the yard.
- Ability to move drums up to 500 pounds safely using a hilo.
- Forklift certification from previous employment.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons.
- Ability to stand for long periods and walk great distances daily.
- Capable of working in confined spaces and high locations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift bags and other containers up to 50 pounds safely.
Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of chemicals.
- Experience as a Chemical Operator.

Work EnvironmentThe work environment can be cold in winter due to open doors and hot in summer. It is a dirty environment. You will work in a team environment, but operators perform tasks independently. Shifts are structured as follows:
1st shift from 6am to 2:30pm, 2nd shift from 2pm to 10:30pm, and 3rd shift from 10pm to 6:30am, with workdays currently lasting 10 hours.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Detroit, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.81 - $20.81/hr.
