Senior Operations Manager – Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit
The Senior Operations Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing the museum’s financial and operational functions. This position is responsible for financial management, including reporting, budgeting, compliance, and coordination with external accounting partners, as well as ensuring smooth and effective day‑to‑day museum operations. Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and department staff, the Senior Operations Manager helps implement institutional priorities, strengthen internal systems, and support strategic decision‑making.
The role also contributes to the development and oversight of policies and procedures that enhance organizational effectiveness. Additional responsibilities may be assigned in alignment with institutional needs and the employee’s expertise.
- Oversee the museum’s financial functions: reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
- Coordinate with external accounting partners to ensure accurate financial records.
- Ensure smooth day‑to‑day museum operations.
- Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer and department staff to implement institutional priorities.

Classification:
Full‑time Exempt
Salary: $68,000–$73,000
Schedule:
Monday–Friday; some evening and weekend hours as needed. In‑office role with the opportunity for a recurring once‑a‑week work‑from‑home day.
