OverviewDMC Sinai‑Grace Hospital is DMC’s largest hospital, offering a comprehensive heart center, cancer care, gerontology, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and cosmetic services. Sinai‑Grace’s joint replacement program features a revolutionary minimally invasive knee and hip replacement surgery that attracts patients from all over the country. Sinai‑Grace operates more than 21 outpatient care sites and ambulatory surgery centers throughout Wayne and Oakland Counties and is one of 10 hospitals in the nation to be awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to help set the standards of cardiac care for hospitals and physicians throughout the nation.

Reporting directly to the site Chief Nursing Officer and indirectly to the Administrative Director, Nursing Specialty – Perioperative Services, the Nursing Director assumes leadership responsibility for the services, functions, and processes in Perioperative Services. The role frequently has programmatic responsibilities in Nursing and influences in recommendation, development, and implementation of policy & procedures; equipment standardization; capital planning; standard work measures; recruitment & retention efforts;
process improvement initiatives; and coordination of the Joint Commission Survey Process. The director approves procedures/protocols, seeks other departmental approvals when appropriate, develops, monitors, and revises functional processes, and provides input into organizational structure. The position also approves personnel actions, ensures timely completion of performance appraisals, and develops and monitors the budget for areas of responsibility. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, Joint Commission requirements, and DMC policies, implementing audit recommendations, and ensuring hospital departments achieve diversity objectives for their suppliers.
- Lead and manage perioperative services, establishing and measuring performance goals.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Oversee recruitment, retention, and staff performance evaluation.
- Coordinate the Joint Commission survey process and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and monitor budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Implement internal and external audit recommendations.
- Promote diversity in supplier selection and procurement processes.
