Facilities Maintenance Technician

Food Processing Facility

Job Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing building systems and equipment within a food processing facility. This role ensures safe, sanitary, and compliant operations in accordance with food safety regulations, company standards, and local/state codes.

Key Responsibilities

Facility & Equipment Maintenance
  • Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on facility systems including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, compressed air, and water systems
  • Maintain processing areas, cold storage, warehouses, and office spaces in sanitary and operational condition
  • Repair doors, floors, walls, drains, lighting, and other building infrastructure
Food Safety & Compliance
  • Perform all work in compliance with GMPs, HACCP, OSHA, and food safety regulations
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in all work areas
  • Support pest control programs and building integrity inspections
  • Properly document maintenance activities and corrective actions
Preventive Maintenance
  • Execute preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and equipment failure
  • Inspect facility systems regularly and identify potential issues before they impact production
  • Maintain maintenance logs and work orders
Troubleshooting & Repairs
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and facility-related issues quickly and effectively
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls during production and off-hours as needed
  • Coordinate with production teams to minimize downtime
Vendor & Project Support
  • Assist with contractor oversight and facility improvement projects
  • Coordinate repairs and installations with external service providers
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory visits
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred
  • 2+ years of maintenance experience in a food processing, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with GMPs, food safety standards, and sanitation practices
  • Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, or noisy environments
  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces

Pay is flexible based on experience: $26-$38/HR
