Facilities Maintenance Technician
Food Processing Facility
Job Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing building systems and equipment within a food processing facility. This role ensures safe, sanitary, and compliant operations in accordance with food safety regulations, company standards, and local/state codes.
Key Responsibilities
Facility & Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on facility systems including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, compressed air, and water systems
- Maintain processing areas, cold storage, warehouses, and office spaces in sanitary and operational condition
- Repair doors, floors, walls, drains, lighting, and other building infrastructure
- Perform all work in compliance with GMPs, HACCP, OSHA, and food safety regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in all work areas
- Support pest control programs and building integrity inspections
- Properly document maintenance activities and corrective actions
- Execute preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and equipment failure
- Inspect facility systems regularly and identify potential issues before they impact production
- Maintain maintenance logs and work orders
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and facility-related issues quickly and effectively
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls during production and off-hours as needed
- Coordinate with production teams to minimize downtime
- Assist with contractor oversight and facility improvement projects
- Coordinate repairs and installations with external service providers
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory visits
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred
- 2+ years of maintenance experience in a food processing, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems
- Familiarity with GMPs, food safety standards, and sanitation practices
- Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in cold, wet, or noisy environments
- Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces

Maintenance Supervisor
Schedule:
Monday - Friday and every other Saturday 5:00am - 3:00pm
Pay is flexible based on experience: $26-$38/HR
Location:
Detroit, Michigan

Non-Exempt / Full-Time
