Security & Maintenance Specialist
Join Covenant Community Care, a faith‑based nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center serving the Detroit community with integrated medical, dental, and counseling services.
Job Description: The Security & Maintenance Specialist provides an exceptional environment of care for our patients and staff by ensuring clinic security, performing minor maintenance, and delivering outstanding customer service.
Responsibilities- Serve as the non‑armed security guard during operating hours and respond to security codes according to Covenant security protocols.
- Enforce the zero tolerance policy for concealed weapons by requesting individuals to remove weapons from the facility.
- Conduct routine tours of clinical, administrative and waiting‑room areas to identify any hazards or concerns.
- Assist patients entering and exiting the building, including wheelchair and walker support.
- Monitor the time patients spend in the waiting room to ensure timely service.
- Perform simple building and facilities repairs; coordinate with the Facilities Director for more complex issues.
- Monitor the exterior of the facility, ensuring parking lots are debris‑free, entries are accessible and snow/ice are removed from walkways.
- Maintain appropriate interior and exterior lighting at all times.
- Assist staff with heavy moving tasks using proper lifting techniques to protect property and personal safety.
- Uphold Covenant’s mission to provide integrated, affordable, and quality health care to those in need.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Prior experience and training in a security role.
- Ability to safely lift and move heavy items.
- Experience with building maintenance and repair is a plus.
- Experience working in a medical environment is a plus.
- Maintenance and Repair – troubleshoot and initiate repairs for equipment, plumbing, mechanical, and building issues.
- Problem Sensitivity – recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong and identify optimal solutions.
- Active Listening – give full attention, ask appropriate questions, and avoid inappropriate interruptions.
- Service Orientation – actively look for ways to help people.
- Speaking – convey information effectively and communicate with coworkers.
- Social Perceptiveness – understand others’ reactions and why they react as they do.
- Time Management – manage one’s own time and the time of others.
