About the Role:In this role, you will support intellectual property (IP) matters, focusing on patent-related processes. You will assist with domestic and international filings, maintain docketing systems, and manage patent-related correspondence. This is a great opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual with experience in patent filings to grow in a collaborative and high-performing legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate domestic and international filings with the USPTO and foreign law offices.
- Maintain docket systems for key actions, including responses, renewals, oppositions, PCT requirements, and patent annuities.
- Prepare and file documents related to U.S. and foreign patents, including assignments.
- Draft client correspondence and summary reports.
- Handle and act on correspondence from foreign associates.
- Conduct legal research, including USPTO and industry database searches.
- Assist with legalizations, certifications, and records of license agreements and related matters.
- Preferred: Paralegal certification.
- At least 2+ years of experience in patent filings and related legal tasks.
- Familiarity with U.S. and foreign patent processes (prosecution, maintenance, renewals).
- Strong computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and research databases (e.g., Innovation, PATTSY, Lexis/Nexis).
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling a high volume of work independently.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with discretion in handling confidential information.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to professionalism, adaptability, and willingness to grow and learn new tools.
