CMK Resources is placing a seasoned Adobe Commerce Technical Architect with a marquee enterprise client operating one of the most technically complex Magento implementations in the industry. This is not a support role — this is an ownership role. You will be the highest-ranking technical voice on the platform, driving architecture decisions that directly influence revenue, performance, and scalability.
You’ll inherit a high-stakes environment: multi-million SKU catalogs, deep ERP/SAP integrations, real-time API ecosystems, cloud‑native infrastructure on Azure or AWS, and stakeholders who expect measurable results. If you thrive at the intersection of technical depth and business impact, this role was built for you.
Location
:
Metro Detroit, MI
Core Responsibilities:
- Own end‑to‑end platform architecture for Adobe Commerce (Magento 2.4.x), making definitive decisions on system design, module structure, API strategy, and infrastructure topology.
- Design and govern complex integrations across ERP (SAP/Oracle), PIM, OMS, payment gateways, and third‑party services — mapping endpoints, enforcing data contracts, and ensuring fault‑tolerant connectivity.
- Drive cloud infrastructure strategy on Azure or AWS — including Redis/Varnish caching architecture, Elasticsearch/Open Search cluster tuning, CI/CD pipeline design, and blue‑green or canary deployment practices.
- Lead performance engineering initiatives — diagnosing bottlenecks using New Relic, profiling query execution, optimizing checkout pipelines, and targeting and achieving sub‑2‑second page load benchmarks on high‑traffic flows.
- Set technical direction across front‑end and back‑end disciplines: PHP 8.x, Graph
QL, PWA Studio, Hyva, REST/SOAP APIs, and service‑oriented architecture patterns. - Partner with business stakeholders and product leadership to translate commercial requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions — providing accurate scoping, risk analysis, and delivery planning.
- Mentor and uplevel a team of internal and contractor developers — establishing coding standards, reviewing architecture proposals, and creating a culture of engineering excellence.
- Evaluate and prescribe solutions for enterprise‑scale catalog management (2M+ SKUs), including indexing strategy, attribute optimization, and layered navigation performance.
- Stay ahead of the Adobe Commerce roadmap, emerging PHP ecosystem trends, and composable commerce patterns — proactively identifying platform risks and opportunities.

- Deep expertise integrating Adobe Commerce with ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent) — including synchronous and asynchronous data flows, message queuing (Rabbit
MQ), and API gateway patterns - Proven cloud platform fluency — Azure or AWS — covering deployment architecture, CDN strategy, auto‑scaling, and infrastructure‑as‑code tooling
- Strong command of caching architecture:
Redis, Varnish, and full‑page cache strategies at scale - Hands‑on experience with Elasticsearch or Open Search — index configuration, relevance tuning, and performance optimization for large catalogs
- Proficiency with observability and APM tools (New Relic, Datadog, or similar) for data‑driven performance diagnosis and root cause analysis
- Solid Git‑based version control practices with experience in branching strategies, code review processes, and release management
- Experience implementing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, Bitbucket, or similar)
- Prior experience in a B2B ecommerce environment, including account hierarchies, custom pricing, and complex checkout flows
Preferred Qualifications:
- Adobe Commerce Developer or Architect certification
- Experience managing platform migrations, replatforming projects, or M&A catalog integrations
- Familiarity with headless/composable commerce patterns — PWA Studio, Hyva, or Vue Storefront
- Background in large‑scale catalog operations: 2 million+ SKUs, complex attribute sets, and multi-source inventory
