Central Intake Specialist - Home Health Care - 40 Hours – Days
Location: This position will be based in Detroit.

Henry Ford Home Health Care is a comprehensive network of home health products and services that focuses on the complex needs of patients and caregivers. Available programs include chronic care management, joint replacement care, specialty infusion and transplant care, wound, ostomy and continence nursing, and palliative care to name a few. Henry Ford Home Health Care’s services are provided by qualified registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified wound, ostomy and continence nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech - language pathologists, medical social workers, dietitians, and home health aides.
GeneralSummary
Under general supervision of the Leader of Central Intake, the Central Intake Specialist is responsible for:
Responsibilities- Intake of new referrals by phone, fax and/or computer.
- Enters referral demographics into computer, coordinates insurance coverage with the Billing department and assists with coordination of care.
- Routinely interacts with physicians, nurses, case managers and the general public regarding the coordination of patients' transitions of care and ongoing care in the home.
- Requires a high school diploma or GED.
- College level coursework in business preferred.
- Requires a minimum of two (2) years of intake, customer service or billing experience. Home Health Care intake or billing experience preferred.
- General knowledge of medical coding and medical terminology required.
