Overview
As the leader of the treatment team, the Substance Use Therapist provides clinical assessments, counseling, advocacy, and support services for a diverse caseload including adults, adolescents, and families experiencing multiple and complex trauma and other mental health challenges.
Responsibilities- Lead the group treatment team and ensure each client successfully completes the goals set in their treatment plan through individual and group therapy.
- Collaborate with internal and external resources to ensure the treatment plans created are successful.
- Guide the client through the entire treatment process, including intake assessments, interviewing, and orienting the client, while maintaining complete and detailed case records and providing ongoing progress summaries.
- Advocate for the client.
- Provide leadership and assist with controlling disruptive behavior using agency approved methods of de-escalation and crisis intervention.
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology required.
- One (1) year of experience in a residential or inpatient setting working with serious mental health disorders of at-risk youth preferred.
- Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP).
- Possession of a certified full license for the State of Michigan.
- Experience working with homeless or vulnerable populations.
