Overview
Henry Ford Health System’s internal staffing department provides proactive coverage to ensure sufficient staffing across the health system. The department addresses unplanned or short-term staffing needs due to vacations, call-offs, leaves of absence, increases in census or acuity. Premium Pay Rates apply to learn more.
ResponsibilitiesMedical Assistants will float to various Henry Ford clinics to provide coverage. Minimum commitment is 2 days per week with opportunities to work up to a full-time schedule. Must be flexible on location and clinic. Hours are primarily Monday through Friday, 8 hour shifts. Occasional weekend opportunities (optional) with pay differential. Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients.
Duties include greeting and escorting patients to the exam room; taking medical histories, measuring and recording vital signs; preparing patients for examinations/procedures; and assisting the physician during examinations/procedures. Demonstrates clinical competence as a Medical Assistant.
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum) with a minimum of one year continuous work as Medical Assistant with verifiable clinical experience OR
- Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years OR
- Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience
- Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years
Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care. Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills. Successful completion of HFMG pharmacology class and test.
Certifications/Licensures Required- Current BLS (American Heart Association) certificate
