Medical Lab Technician – Pride Health

Location:

Detroit, MI 48202
Duration: 13‑week contract (possibility of extension or conversion)

Shift: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (potential flexibility: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. or 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.)
Pay: $35.00 / hr – $38.00 / hr (w2, pay rate based on experience and qualifications)

Responsibilities
  • Determine acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem‑solving.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Requirements
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meeting local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
  • BLS certification; MLT certification is a plus.
  • Experience with Epic, Sunquest or CoPath/LIS systems is a plus.
  • ASCP MLT certification or equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with computers.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or additional shifts as needed.
