The Licensed Paramedic, under the direction of the Registered Nurse, acts as a member of the healthcare team to perform delegated patient care duties in the department assigned.

The Paramedic holds shift accountability for providing care to patients in accordance with recognized techniques, standards of practice and hospital policy and procedures.

The Licensed Paramedic will provide patient care during shifts, including assessment, treatment, and documentation while adhering to hospital protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an Emergency Medical Technician‑Paramedic training course.
• Paramedic experience required; experience in an emergency room preferred.
• Current licensed as EMT‑P with BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications within six months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
• Basic and Advanced Trauma Life Support.

Skills Required

• Good analytical and observational problem‑solving skills.
• Mathematical ability to perform calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies used in the work environment.
• High level of interpersonal and verbal skill and teamwork commitment to support all services delivered on the patient unit.
• Good reading, writing and comprehension skills to understand, effectively communicate and contribute to procedures, processes, orders, methods and standards.
• Physical ability to regularly walk, stand, lift soiled linens, move equipment, transport patients, and perform basic activities of daily living (including heavy lifts up to 60+ pounds, bending, pulling, pushing, standing and walking).
• Visual acuity and manual dexterity.
• Perform routine clerical functions such as answering telephones, taking messages and basic retrieval of computer information.
• Demonstrated willingness to make a meaningful contribution to the work environment through behavior and attitude.
• Competency in reading cardiac monitors and identifying arrhythmias.
