Position: CT Technologist Full Time Midnights

DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital

The first and largest verified burn center in the state is at Receiving, and it is one of only 43 in the nation. Receiving also offers the state’s leading 24/7 hyperbaric oxygen program, Metro Detroit’s first certified primary stroke center, and the nationally recognized and accredited DMC Rosa Parks Geriatric Center of Excellence.

Job Summary

Under general supervision and following established policies and procedures, performs diagnostic CT exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment, verifies patient identity, and reviews patients’ medical record for appropriateness of exam or procedure.

Responsibilities
  • Interview patient to obtain, verify, or update medical history and assesses risk factors such as medications, pregnancy, and psychological indicators.
  • Explain procedure to patient, including side effects, risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow‑up.
  • Set up equipment and acquire appropriate images as per script.
  • Review images, make initial observations, document exceptions from established protocols, and communicate data to the radiologist.
  • Recognize and respond to medical emergencies as appropriate.
  • Provide physician‑prescribed post‑care instructions to patients.
  • Participate in process improvement activities within radiology practice, including quality of care, patient flow, reject‑repeat analysis, and patient satisfaction.
  • Provide seules imaging education to residents, student technologists, and new employees; may take call/standby as required by the department.
  • May perform the duties of a Radiologic Technologist, as needed.
Qualifications
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology (R) or Computed Tomography (CT) preferred.
  • Required to have or successfully complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by end of orientation period.
  • One or more years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiology or advanced certification in Computed Tomography (CT).
Skills Required
  • Analytical and clinical skills necessary to determine the most appropriate method of relaying radiographs to a patient, based on age, physical ability, and limitations.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to deal effectively with patients under physical or emotional stress and to understand physicians’ requests and prescriptions.
  • Technical knowledge to operate equipment, including specialized systems and computers.
  • Ability to work productively in a complex environment and handle multiple changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of American College of Radiology requirements for accreditation.
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and patient positioning.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate imaging equipment and supplies in order to produce diagnostically acceptable images.
