Fractional Controller

A great client at UHY is seeking a Fractional Controller
. The ideal candidate will have strong GAAP financial reporting experience, SAGE accounting system expertise, and hands‑on accounting operations leadership.

The Fractional Controller role is mostly remote with occasional onsite meetings – flexible hours, approximately 15 per week. This is a client consulting position.

• Lead preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Oversee timely and accurate general ledger and sub‑ledger close processes
• Coordinate external audits and serve as the primary point of contact for auditors
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal reporting and tax requirements
• Oversee all accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance
• Manage monthly close activities, cost allocations, and tax filings
• Maintain and improve internal accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, credit facilities, and company assets
• Evaluate financial risks and safeguard company assets through strong internal controls
• Lead accounting system upgrades and ensure proper controls during implementation
• Support budgeting and long‑term forecasting efforts with executive leadership
• Manage short‑term cash flow forecasting and billing tracking processes
• Provide variance analysis and actionable financial insights to leadership
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff while promoting accountability and collaboration within the finance team

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• Progressive accounting leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
• SAGE accounting system experience required
• Experience managing full‑cycle accounting operations and monthly close
• Strong internal controls, risk management, and audit coordination experience
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Proven leadership and team development skills
