Totlani & Partners has partnered with a manufacturing company who is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to join their team. This is a confidential search for a seasoned Controller to join the organization’s finance team. The role partners closely with the Director of Finance to support the month-end close process, oversee day-to-day financial operations, and lead a team of Staff Accountants.
The Controller will be accountable for the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, the effective management of core accounting functions, and the maintenance of strong internal controls across multiple brands.
- Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and maintain appropriate internal controls.
- Oversee the monthly close process and perform reconciliations of balance sheet and P&L accounts across multiple brands and ERP systems.
- Collaborate with FP&A to prepare monthly management reports.
- Supervise and mentor Staff Accountants.
- Provide requested documentation and support to external auditors.
- Offer financial and accounting expertise for operational initiatives.
- Manage sales, use, and property tax reporting, coordinating with external tax providers.
- Deliver daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly management reports.
- Support special projects and ad-hoc analytics.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in a large commercial or multi-location business; industrial distribution or public accounting experience preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively under tight deadlines.
- Previous supervisory experience required.
