Overview: Dykema Gossett PLLC, a leading national law firm, seeks an Accounts Receivable Specialist. The position is open to all office locations. You will work closely with the Accounts Receivable Manager, coordinating client collection activities for assigned billing attorneys according to established procedures and guidelines.
Responsibilities- Review aging of client accounts receivable and identify clients, billing attorneys, or practice groups that require special attention.
- Assist in determining, with the Accounts Receivable Manager and Financial Review Committee, collection potential, litigation potential, and charge‑off potential through documentation.
- Research and resolve billing and collection discrepancies, meeting with attorneys to determine needed action and preparing follow‑up documentation.
- Initiate follow‑up collection activities, implement stop‑work procedures, and recommend transfer of delinquent accounts to outside collection agencies when appropriate.
- Perform collection functions such as mailing reminder statements, placing follow‑up telephone calls, and composing basic collection letters in compliance with departmental policies and attorney requests.
- Monitor client accounts receivable for small balance write‑offs to maintain clean data for aged reporting.
- Organize and maintain collection files, implementing additional record‑keeping methods to increase efficiency when appropriate.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Associate degree in accounting or related field preferred; comparable level of training acceptable.
- Three years of law firm collections experience strongly preferred; consider collections experience in a legal‑adjacent field.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, intermediate+ Excel skills required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; adept interpersonal relations essential.
- Proactive, inquisitive, analytical problem solver with independent judgment and track record of goal achievement.
- Collaborative across finance team, promoting a positive work environment that embraces diversity.
- Strong time‑management and organizational skills, with flexibility in prioritizing workload.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
Expected compensation ranges by location:
- Chicago: $55–65k
- Michigan Offices: $50–60k
- Minneapolis: $50–60k
- San Antonio: $45–55k
- Washington, D.C.: $55–65k
