Job Summary

The Tax Experienced Senior, Transfer Pricing is responsible for utilizing research skills and working with tax software applications to prepare simple tax returns. In this role, the Senior will gather client information for appropriate tax filings and preparing tax accrual work papers, participate in the tax planning process and recognize and communicate potential risks.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct transfer pricing studies involving the planning, documentation, audit defense and compliance stages.
  • Scope, design, and conduct the financial analysis related to intercompany transactions, including benchmarking and documentation of intercompany pricing policies.
  • Complete supplemental financial analysis involving market penetration scenarios, valuation of intangible property, and analysis of financial transactions.
  • Plan, schedule and execute transfer pricing analyses under the direction of STS Senior Director or STS Manager.
  • Manage deadlines and data due dates for assigned projects.
  • Utilize standard databases to gather company information (e.g., Compustat, Amadeus, ktMINE, Edgar, 10‑K Wizard, Bloomberg, Lexis‑Nexis).
  • Prepare project reports documenting compliance of client intercompany prices with foreign and domestic tax regulations and present consulting advice summarizing the approach, research, quantitative analysis and results.
  • Participate in scoping calls related to proposals and prepare draft proposals and engagement letters at direction of STS Senior Director or STS Manager.
  • Prepare presentations for current clients and potential clients conveying results and recommendations.
  • Participate in client interviews to gather information about intercompany transactions, including corporate structure, functional responsibilities, risk distribution, value drivers, competitive pressure, historical context, and industry information.
  • Manage and review benchmarking work completed by STS Transfer Pricing Associates.
  • Apply understanding of the audit, competent authority and APA process; prepare IDR responses on behalf of clients.
  • Apply transfer pricing to tax provisions and ASC 740‑10; draft memos for transfer pricing ASC 740‑10 analysis.
  • Develop technical understanding of taxation issues and maintain visibility in local offices and region.
  • Supervise day‑to‑day workload of STS Transfer Pricing Associates and Interns, review work product, and provide training and guidance.
  • Deliver periodic performance feedback and complete performance evaluations for Associates and Interns.
  • Act as mentor to Associates and Interns and monitor budgets and billings to manage project profitability.
Qualifications, Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or other relevant field, required.
  • Advanced degree, preferred.
  • More than three (3) years of work experience, required.
  • Experience working within a transfer pricing practice, required.
  • Prior supervisory experience, required.
  • Experience with review of tax provisions from a transfer pricing perspective, preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite:
    Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Prior exposure to S&P Compustat, Moody’s Risk Calc, 10‑K Wizard, ktMINE, and other financial database products, preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and basic research skills.
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details.
  • Ability to successfully multi‑task while working independently or within a group environment.
  • Capable of working in a deadline‑driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with client personnel.
  • Intermediate understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding one or more areas of taxation.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of general calculations and cause/effect for taxable conditions on clients and the potential tax issues.
  • Experience working on different types of analysis across a number of industries.
