Experienced Environmental Scientist / Project Manager
📍 Traverse City | Mount Pleasant | Brighton, MI
Michigan Consulting & Environmental (MCE) is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist / Project Manager to support environmental investigation, remediation, and due diligence projects across Michigan.
This role is ideal for an experienced environmental professional who enjoys owning projects end-to-end, working directly with clients and regulators, and mentoring junior staff in a collaborative consulting environment. Strong knowledge of Michigan Part 201 and Part 213 regulations is essential.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:- Manage environmental investigation and remediation projects from planning through completion
- Prepare and review regulatory deliverables (IARs, FARs, Closure Reports, and related documentation)
- Lead and support Phase I & II ESAs, BEAs, and Due Care documentation
- Coordinate field activities including drilling, sampling, surveying, and lab services
- Provide oversight for UST removals and remediation systems
- Manage subcontractors, schedules, budgets, and scopes
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Mentor and support Field and Staff Scientists
- Collaborate with clients, regulators, engineers, and project managers
- Bachelor’s degree in geology, engineering, environmental science, or related field
- 5+ years of environmental consulting experience
- Strong working knowledge of Michigan Part 201 and Part 213
- Experience with investigations, sampling, and regulatory reporting
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid Michigan driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites
EXPERIENCE:
- BEAs and Due Care documentation
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
- AutoCAD
- Industrial Stormwater Operator or Asbestos Inspector certifications
