Experienced Environmental Scientist / Project Manager

📍 Traverse City | Mount Pleasant | Brighton, MI

Michigan Consulting & Environmental (MCE) is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist / Project Manager to support environmental investigation, remediation, and due diligence projects across Michigan.

This role is ideal for an experienced environmental professional who enjoys owning projects end-to-end, working directly with clients and regulators, and mentoring junior staff in a collaborative consulting environment. Strong knowledge of Michigan Part 201 and Part 213 regulations is essential.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Manage environmental investigation and remediation projects from planning through completion
  • Prepare and review regulatory deliverables (IARs, FARs, Closure Reports, and related documentation)
  • Lead and support Phase I & II ESAs, BEAs, and Due Care documentation
  • Coordinate field activities including drilling, sampling, surveying, and lab services
  • Provide oversight for UST removals and remediation systems
  • Manage subcontractors, schedules, budgets, and scopes
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Mentor and support Field and Staff Scientists
  • Collaborate with clients, regulators, engineers, and project managers
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, engineering, environmental science, or related field
  • 5+ years of environmental consulting experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Michigan Part 201 and Part 213
  • Experience with investigations, sampling, and regulatory reporting
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites
PREFFERRED

EXPERIENCE:
  • BEAs and Due Care documentation
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
  • AutoCAD
  • Industrial Stormwater Operator or Asbestos Inspector certifications
