Postdoctoral Researcher – Mechanical Engineering
Wayne State University is seeking an experienced Postdoctoral Researcher in Mechanical Engineering at its Detroit campus.
Essential Functions (job duties)
We invite applications for a postdoctoral researcher position focused on laboratory investigations of air‑blast atomization in liquid films. The candidate will conduct advanced laboratory experiments to study the dynamics of gas coherent structures and the formation of transverse liquid waves. This research will involve novel experimental approaches, including PIV, LIF, high‑speed imaging, and shadow graph techniques. The fellow will collect and analyze data, and produce project reports and peer‑reviewed journal publications.
Qualifications
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Strong background in liquid atomization and experimental fluid mechanics.
- Experience with PIV, LIF, high‑speed imaging, and shadow graph is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical data‑analysis skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Self‑motivated and capable of working collaboratively with team members and external collaborators.
