Overview

Elementary, School Social Worker, 1.0 FTE

• Master's Degree in School Social Work
• Valid State of Michigan Certification as a School Social Worker

• Provide school social work support and services to general education students as part of the District Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
• Provide school social work support and services to students who have Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Section 504 Plans.
• Experience working with students with disabilities.
• Strong knowledge of a wide range of psychiatric disorders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively on a multidisciplinary team.
• Effective collaboration with parents, educational staff and community agencies to coordinate programs and services for students and families.
• Strong diagnostic skills and experience participating in the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team process.
• Experience facilitating the IEP process and engagement in the Section 504 Process.
• Knowledge and use of Positive Behavioral Supports.
• Active participant in functional behavioral analysis (FBA) and development of behavior intervention plans (BIP).
• Administration of Threat and Risk Assessments.
• Trained in, or willing to be trained in non-violent crisis intervention.
• Conduct home visits as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

Appropriate placement on the current Teacher's Master Agreement.
