Overview
Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Instructor/Assistant Professor (Teaching) in the Department of Global Supply Chain Management at its Detroit campus location.

Responsibilities- Teach 4 (per semester) undergraduate/graduate supply chain management courses.
- Manage assessment and student progress using the Learning Management System (Canvas).
- Maintain and update curriculum that is current, effective, and appropriate to course and program competencies. Instruct students in a classroom, online, and/or hybrid setting.
- Additional teaching opportunities are available in Spring/Summer Semesters.
- Teach courses related to quality and production planning offered in the school’s Undergraduate, MBA or MS programs. Other classes may include procurement, logistics, operations, ERP systems, supply chain analytics, lean, manufacturing processes, and customs.
- Support job and internship placement efforts for students by helping with networking and general assistance. Contribute to SCM program development initiatives as appropriate.
- Be an actively engaged member of the department and the Mike Ilitch School of Business community, taking on service responsibilities (e.g., committee roles, national case competitions, department events, new student orientation, and networking events). - Candidates should hold a graduate degree (e.g., MS, MBA, DBA, or PhD). Those with a PhD or DBA in Supply Chain Management or related fields will be considered for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (Teaching); others will be considered at the rank of Instructor.
- Experience in teaching undergraduate, graduate, and executive education
- Industry experience, especially in the automotive and other complex manufacturing industries
- Experience in mentoring students
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to supporting student learning and development
- Ability to infuse emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), into the curriculum
- Involvement in professional or academic organizations (e.g., Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, Institute for Supply Management, AIAG, MEMA)
- Evidence of effective collaboration with industry partners
- Experience advising student organizations
- Experience leading outreach programs
- Experience leading or interest in leading study abroad programs
