As a Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences School Bus Aide, you will share a commitment to ensuring that every child is transported safely to and from school, home, and special events such as field trips.

Requirements:

• Must possess physical ability to perform all required work
• Satisfactory Completion of Background Check
• Prior experience working with children preferred
• Ability to work with children and maintain discipline on the bus
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work up to 5 hours per day

Terms of Employment: Part time, up to 25 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional relationship with supervisors, staff, families, students and the public
• Work independently and in teams to complete job duties and assignments in a timely manner
• Monitor safety of scholars while riding the bus, including taking attendance and ensuring all scholars are accounted for
• Establish and maintain positive rapport with scholars
• Communicate with parents and guardians in a professional and proactive manner
• Follow all protocols to report any incidents and accidents in a timely manner
• Handle emergencies or unforeseen situations calmly and effectively, including administering basic first aid if necessary, and following established emergency procedures
• Participate in evacuation and other safety drills
• Meet deadlines for paperwork submission
• Maintain a clean bus at all times
