Position Overview

As a Private Instructor/Ensemble Instructor, your responsibilities include:

  • Assessing student levels in areas such as Music Reading, Technique, Rhythmic Accuracy, Hand/Finger position, Tone Production, Musical Interpretation, Articulation, Sight Reading, Rudiments, etc.
  • Identifying strengths and weaknesses, selecting appropriate literature, and guiding students on where to find music.
  • Understanding student or ensemble goals, developing plans, and periodically reviewing progress.
  • Maintaining records of assignments and student performance.
  • Providing clear instructions, listening attentively, and offering constructive feedback.
    • Administrative Duties
  • Check mailbox regularly and maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Complete evaluations and update personal information as needed.
  • Submit timesheets punctually.
    • Outreach and Performance
  • Participate in outreach events and community activities.
  • Encourage student participation in recitals and faculty concerts.
    • Additional Responsibilities
  • Attend faculty meetings and assist the area chair as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues for professional development.
  • Engage in masterclasses, workshops, and recitals.
    • Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Performance, or related fields.
    • Experience teaching private lessons and leading ensembles.
    • Participation in recognized music organizations is preferred.
    • Suzuki certification is a plus.
