About NPFE’s Teacher ResidencyOur Teacher Residency is a Michigan‑approved alternate route to certification program that offers an affordable, high‑quality pathway to teaching through a three‑year residency. The program will provide an innovative and scaffolded approach to training and retaining high‑quality teachers, particularly teachers of color and male teachers of color while offering financial incentives to reduce barriers for candidates.
What You’ll Do- Instruct students in both small and large group settings.
- Receive support to study for and pass Michigan Tests for Teacher Certification (MTTC).
- Engage in rigorous, job‑aligned training and coursework focused on best practices in teaching and instructional practice.
- Receive intensive mentoring and support from highly skilled, effective teachers and instructional leaders.
- Obtain your Interim Teaching Certification for the state of Michigan and work as a teacher of record in your classroom.
- The Residency will take place over the course of three (3) years. Teachers who make a longer (5 year) commitment to our network will receive their full certification at a nominal cost.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Prior experience working with children in grades PK‑12 preferred.
- Candidates applying now will be eligible for summer hire and a position for the 2025‑2026 school year.
