Responsibilities
  • Provide direct clinical care by conducting psychiatric evaluations, evaluation and management services, care coordination, assessment, consultations, and medication management for children and adolescents, and occasionally youths in transition and/or adults.
  • Assess and diagnose according to the latest Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM‑5).
  • Consult with caregivers, parents, guardians, personal support system, family, schools, agencies, outside community organizations, and juvenile courts to coordinate care and provide individualized treatment recommendations.
  • Coordinate integrated care with internal and external providers of mental health, physical health, and substance use disorders.
  • Order and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests as clinically appropriate.
  • Recommend and encourage the use of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for tobacco, alcohol, and opioid use disorders when clinically appropriate.
  • Provide education regarding chronic health conditions, disease process, healthy lifestyle management, vaccinations, and medication management including risks, benefits, and side effects.
  • Support residents, fellows, and trainees, and contribute to the establishment of psychiatric programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Testify in judicial proceedings on matters concerning individuals served when warranted.
  • Participate in monthly on‑call rotation as assigned.
  • Adhere to and maintain compliance with infection control, medical waste, pharmaceutical waste, and sharps disposal standards.
  • Utilize motivational interview strategies and a trauma‑informed approach to engage with and provide service to individuals.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and in accordance with CNS policies.
  • Meet direct‑service productivity and documentation standards per agency and program expectations.
  • Maintain compliance with quality care initiatives including Meaningful Use (MU), Medicare Merit‑Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and CCBHC requirements.
  • Ensure that CNS Healthcare standards of service are applied to interactions with individuals served, guests, and staff.
  • Assume responsibility for professional growth through current reading and attendance at educational programs and conferences.
  • Maintain knowledge and compliance with established policies and procedures, corporate compliance program, code of ethics, applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, HIPAA standards, and other regulatory programs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required

  • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited school of medicine.
  • Completion of a residency in psychiatry and fellowship in child/adolescent psychiatry.
  • Must obtain or possess and maintain a Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP) credential within 90 days of employment.
  • Active board certification (or board‑eligible) by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
  • Current, unrestricted, State of Michigan full license to practice as a medical doctor.
  • Valid and unrestricted Michigan controlled substance license.
